further and farther [grammar schmammar]

         Did you there is a different between further and farther. to me I used it any how and any where, didn't really acre about using the wright word for the wright sentence. Grammar schmammar is always the best it put you on the wright part. Farther is used as a comparative of far.you use farther for a distance..use to indicate the extent to which one thing or a person is or becoming distance from another. for example the farther away you are from your home, the better you should behave. you can also you it over a greater expanse of space or time  for a longer way. Further on the other hand is kind of the same has distance. you can say I am going   to college to further my education. further can be use has a verb. Examples are: I refuse to walk one step farther. Another examples is the mountain peak was further away than she expected.

beyound class ( say good night Gracie}

     I take theatre appreciation and we are suppose to watch a play and write a critique for the play. I went to the Virginia repertory theatre to watch "say good night Gracie". the ticket for the play was $38 and was $10 for students. looking at the ticket I thought the play will be awesome but guess what the play was so boring to the point I was dozing off but I try not to sleep because I have to write a critique for it. so the play is basically about Gracie and her comedy show she use to have before she died. the man who is suppose to be the husband of Gracie was the only character on stage narrating the whole story.The play say goodnight Gracie is basically about the life of a Jewish man called George Burns, how he straggles and ended up in a comedy showbiz and meet Gracie Allen. They happen to began in a radio as a comic relief. He fell in love with Gracie and they got married and earn their own show. The audience loves Gracie.  Gracie had a chest problem and died at the hospital. She always ended up the show saying’’ good night’’ to the audience. The theme of the play is basically about Gracie and how funny she was.

Good/Well

      my group had grammar schmammar 7, which was the different between good and well. my group consist of Tiara, Jacob and me.Tiara did all the power point this time, all we had to do is come together as a group to present it in class. well deals with health. good is an adjective and well is adverb. Well is related to health. for example you will say I don't feel well today not I don't feel good today. sometimes we say stuff which is not the correct word but since we are use to saying the wrong word,  it sound normally but when it comes to the writing aspect of it, you have to write the write word. we can say whatever, the wrong English and shorten them but when we are writing it is suppose to be the right word. so looking at good and well, they may mean the same but is actually not the same. for example you cant say Tiara is not feeling good so she didn't make it to class. which some people may say that but is not the right word. you should say tiara is not feeling well so she didn't make it to class.

class activity

we suppose to write a paper to response to a speech or an article. we have to send the article or speech to the teacher and write s essay responding to it. we did an activity in class today which is suppose to be helping us write our response paper. is going to help us think outside the box. the game we did today was called taboo. I don't like games, I hate them so much but when the teacher explain the whole game it sound fun and we had to be in  a group to start the game. the class was divvied into two. each group have to come out with one person to guess or explain what the world is and the group have to say what it is. we won and it was fun. it helped us thin k and is going to help us write our essay.

fall break

the whole off last week, all at I was thinking of was my fall break. I been in school ever since my car broke down on my way for shopping with my room mate. I use to go home every weekend. the school is deadly quiet on weekend so I end up going home. but ever since my car broke down have ben on campus so fall break was the only chance fore me to go home and eat some healthy food. well the very reason I wanted to go home was because I miss home food and I cant wait to go home and eat. I left the school on Wednesday after I was done with my classes. the first thing I did when I got home was to check the food mom got at home. I mad my self some delicious food and ate it all. am not a fat kid but trust me that was how I miss home food. I worked on Thursday and Friday morning, and was suppose to go out on Friday evening with my boo. but for some stupid argument we couldn't make it. I relax my hair on Saturday evening and blow dry it on Sunday morning. my hair is pretty long but it came out more longer after I relax it. my fall break was fun.

grammar schammar

 today in english, the grammar schmammar group three had their presentation. they were in  a group of five people. I think they have many people in their group but all the same the presentation was the best presentation so far from the other two group. I was part of group two but it was a little bit messy but I guess is going to be ok in the next presentation we got. they did a presentation on commas an they had a power point on it. the most interesting part of it was the group had candy for the class. whoever had the right answer to the example they got u get a candy for that, and that made every one participate in the class.  after that we discussed about movie posters. how the nature of the poster makes you wonna watch the movie so bad. it was interesting and fun. we used the other 20 minute we got to work on our blogs and that's what I just did.

beyound class

we are suppose to do two beyond class. my film club count as one beyond class. is every Thursday and we watch all source of movies. comedy, action ,drama ,romantic, tragedy. is held in the human social science building, we have a pop corn machine and we enjoy pop corn while watching movie. is every Thursdays at 12:30pm and is just like a movie theater. last two weeks Thursday we watch matrix, but didn't finish it. we continued it last week Thursday. matrix is  a science fiction movie.it talks about  a man living two lives. By day he is an average computer programmer and by night a hacker known as Neo.  he always question his reality. it got a lot of actions in it. Neo finds himself targeted by the police when he is contacted by Morpheus, a legendary computer hacker branded a terrorist by the government. Morpheus awakens Neo to the real world, a ravaged wasteland where most of humanity have been captured by a race of machines that live off of the humans' body heat and electrochemical energy and who imprison their minds within an artificial reality known as the Matrix.  is a must watch movie, I liked it.

GROUP WORK

 Today we didn't have to go to our English class so we took the advantage of that to work on our English group project. in our English class we have a group of three or four people assign to do a presentation on grammar schmammar. the fist presentation was on Wednesday about how to use apostrophes. we were given options to do a presentation in class and the teacher was going to video it and put it on you tube. my group has the second presentation, we were going to do a video so we decided to use our English period to meet at the library today at noon  and get it started.one of the student in the group was late and she had almost everything to get started so we had to wait on her for half an hour. as soon as she get in we had the key to one of the student study room in the library. we decided to do a presentation in class because we didn't have enough material for our video. we came together as a group and discuss about our presentation. so now we are prepared and ready to go on Monday for our presentation. I am a little bit nervous standing in front of the class for presentation.

ABOUT ME

 Hi am Rita and this is my second time blogging. am from Alexandria, Virginia and I drive two hours all the way from Alexandria to Richard Bland and the good part is I live on campus. this is my first time being to Richmond and I don't really know my way around here. over the summer I worked as a pharmacy technician at Wal-Mart pharmacy. I loved it so much. it makes me feel like I have already started what I want to do or be in life. i love helping people especially the sick am i want to devote my self in the medical field. all though i don't want to be a pharmacist i still see it has a head start in my career. This is my first time staying away from my parents as in living on campus. i love it so far but is just that it get boring on weekends when most people go home.am a freshman and am taking stuff cool. it just get crazy an frustrating when i was quizzes back and front it i still manage to get stuff back on track. am working hard and praying i get good grades in all my classes.

Class Discussions /Activities.

   we were suppose to discuses or talk about'' my mothers tongue'' today in class but I guess most of us the students didn't read it  so we were smite enough to convince Mr. Sweeney and he made us work on something else. Todays class was like everybody was doing whatever.so I will go ahead and talk about what we read on Wednesday. '' superman and me'' was what we talked about in class on Wednesday.is pretty much an interesting story by an Indian boy who is now a writer. Well most the students see it as a boring story and I think is because they were not really prepared for class. I also found it boring the first time i read it but when i read it three times,  it was not that boring but  interesting and I liked it.we were all given the chance to come up with at least two questions about ''superman and me '' to discuses in class. that comes the funny part of the class. most questions were funny and stupid if i may say. We discuses most of the questions and ignore the stupid questions of cause. class discussion on Wednesday was very interesting we came up with different ideal to the question.To me i think group work or class discussion is the best for especially English classes.
